Safety Net for Sale: Union Perspective on Privatization

This presentation will discuss reasons for opposition to the privatization of public services from the perspective of the nation's largest public employee and health care workers union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Economic and social costs, quality, accountability, and the impact on unionized workers will be presented. Examples of the negative effects of privatization of health care and social services as well as public sector success stories and AFSCME's campaign to fight privatization will be highlighted.
