Sharon Newsome, BS, Senior Director for Environment and Health, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Suite 700, 1101 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005, 202-898-0150, N/A

The international protocol to phase out persistent organic pollutants (POPs) is an opportunity to direct additional financial and technical assistance toward the control of malaria while reducing reliance on DDT. In addition to funding mechanisms, the POPs treaty will contain specific provisions relative to DDT.
