The WAR Project is housed at Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury. The WAR Project works to reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS infection among our priority population (sex workers, women injection drug users, and women from racial and linguistic minorities), through promoting increased awareness, conscious changes in specific behavior patterns that cause or increase risk among the populations, and changes in the social conditions which lead women to risky behavior through sex work. We outreach in the streets, facilitate women's groups, and hold actions in community to raise awareness around the root causes of HIV prevalence i communities of color. We are opening a women's center in Roxbury to house a community educational projects developing critical thinking skills.
