Human Rights and the HIV/AIDS Pandemic: Africa and Global Implications

Presenter will discuss how the human rights perspective has changed the way world community is dealing with the HIV/AIDS pandemic, focusing in particular on the current crisis in the spread of HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa and its social justice and human rights implications.

Learning Objectives: 1. Relate the idea of social justice to the framework of international human righrs 2. Identify the principal areas in which the human rights framework can make a positive contribution to improving public health 3. Demonstrate the ways in which international human rights concerns relate to domestic health policy and practice
