The session addresses prominent challenges in the implementation of TB control programs in high TB prevalence countries. Innovative approaches to resolving problems at the global, national and local level will be reviewed. The role of government, civil society organizations and the private sector will be discussed. The first presenter will provide an overall framework for examining levers to overcome obstacles including incentives and will provide examples from a range of countries. The second presenter analyses global trends in anti-TB drug prices over the last decades and factors affecting this. The last presenter provides a vision on how a variety of partners have helped to change the potential pricing for second and third line drugs urgently needed to treat rapidly increasing multi-drug resistant TB.
