Abstract #18408

Regression Analysis of Censored Medical Costs

Danyu Lin, PhD, Department of Biostatistics, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, , danyu@biostat.washington.edu

Mmedical cost data are censored when study subjects are not followed for the full duration of interest so that their costs beyond the follow-up times are unknown. Standard ival analysis techniques are ill-suited to this type of nsoring. In this talk, we show how to correctly handle censored medical cost data in the regression analysis. We consider several classes of regression models, including those that pertain to the actual cost and those that ertain to the rate of cost accumulation conditional on specific survival patterns. Statistical inferences for these models are scribed. An application to data taken from a large cancer study is provided.
