Several states have recently grappled with the issue of how to change their health care systems to extend health coverage to more citizens, some more successfully than others. Speakers from three states will describe their state-specific efforts and initiatives, while Quentin Young, a long-time activist in the univeral care movement, will provide commentary on post-election prospects for change at the national level. Attendees are invited to participate in discussion what role APHA might play in helping the achieve the goal of "Everybody In -- Nobody Out."

Learning Objectives: 1) Participants will be more informed about recent state-level efforts to expand access to health care. 2) Participants will have a better understanding of the prospects for improvements in access to care from the national level, given election results. 3) Participants will discuss potential strategies APHA might pursue to give the universal health care movement more momentum
