This paper will present on the assessment of smoking behaviors and availability of tobacco among ethnic minority adolescents in Philadelphia, the 4th largest city of United States. Over the past years, ethnic minority communities have been targeted by tobacco industry. Very few studies have investigated the impact of commercial and social availability of tobacco on ethnic minority smoking behaviors. This study employed a cross-sectional research design using written survey format to collect data. The primary research question is, "What are the ethnic/racial differences in smoking behaviors, availability (both social and commercial) of tobacco, and knowledge of policy restrictions of youth access among ethnic minority adolescents?" Outcomes and implications will be provided to help policy makers and public health professionals develop efficacious policies and interventions to prevent and reduce commercial accessibility, social availability, and tobacco use among ethnic adolescents.
