Results of a situational analysis study of post-partum/post-abortion services in seven Honduran hospitals will be presented. As part of the study, service providers and clients before discharge from the hospital were interviewed, and resources to provide the services were assessed. Only two hospital provided post-obstetric event contraceptive services, even though more than one third of the women interviewed would have liked to leave the hospital with a contraceptive method. Other results showed that most of the pregnancies had been unplanned and undesired by both partners.

Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, participants will be able to describe the need and the demand for post-partum/post-abortion services in Honduras and the readiness of these hospitals to provide the services
