Health, Disability, and Public Health Curriculum: The Role of Disability Content and Resources for Professional Training

This paper will address the available and needed resources for training on disability related issues within public health curricula and identify matters that affect the health and well-being of people with disabilities (i.e. secondary conditions, independent living, personal assistance, assistive technologies). Lastly, strategies for professional workforce development will be discussed, in light of Healthy People 2010.

Learning Objectives: At the end of the session, participants will: 1.Understand how disability content crosses a range of public health topics and core competencies. 2.Increase awareness of available and needed resources for training about disability in public health curriculum. 3.Identify benefits to using public health resources across professional disciplines
