At this round table we will discuss community based programs. For example, at Johns Hopkins, a child pedestrian safety intervention is being developed. We are applying the principles of data driven priority-setting with active community involvement to design the intervention and evaluation. The study will include four elementary schools and their families, neighborhood residents, government and community representatives. The approach includes: a pedestrian safety audit; household surveys of knowledge, beliefs, behaviors and willingness to pay for child pedestrian improvements; and interviews with decision makers who can affect change in the pedestrian environment. Challenges and accomplishments will be discussed.

Learning Objectives: Develop priorities for injury prevention initiatives Develop community based programs Evaluate interventions
