Firearms kill almost 90 people per day in the United States. While our crime and violence rates are not out of line with other developed countries, our rate of lethal violence is far higher than other industrialized nations. We have the most firearms per capita of any developed country, and most of our lethal violence is gun violence. This round table will discuss work being undertaken at various injury centers across the country, looking at gun use in self-defense, gun threats against women, gun deaths among children, and many other firearm issues. We will discuss research priorities and policy development and evaluation.

Learning Objectives: Assess the quality of firearms research Identify areas for needed studies Evaluate policy initiatives
