Tufts University Nutrition Navigator was launched in October 1997 to provide Internet users with rapid access to reliable information on nutrition and physical activity. The site provides a numeric rating system and a narrative description of nearly 350 free access sites with significant amounts of information on these topics. Since it was launched three years ago, the number of web users has grown exponentially and the types of information provided have multiplied. This presentation will describe the design and implementation of the Navigator website and how it has evolved to keep pace with the changing Internet environment. Finally, it will provide some insights on how nutrition and fitness information on the web will continue to change over the next several years.
