Developing and Managing a Corporate University at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The Human Resources Management Office at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has led a major organizational transition from traditional employee training and development approaches to a foward-thinking Corporate University approach, tied to organizational vision, mission, goals, and strategic plans. Presenter will discuss critical success factors, lessons learned, and practical implementation strategies. At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify the key success factors in implementing such a change; 2. Articulate the value and methodology for developing and utilizing a training needs assessment tool; 3. Name the steps in designing, validating and implementing a competency-based approach to employee career development; 4. Describe a successful structure for the delivery of training and education via a Corporate University; 5. Describe effective approachs to: -- link competencies and curriculum; -- develop certification and intern programs; -- develop and utilize an internal web page; -- successfully market benefits of the change
