The United States population as a whole is living longer and getting older. The growth of the Latino elder population is among the fastest rate in the nation. The American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian (AIANNH) elders are among the most ethnically and linguistically diverse of America’s racial and ethnic groups. These changing demographics pose many needs assessment and service delivery challenges for providers of services in the Aging Network. To ensure that the needs and concerns of Latino and AIANNH elders are understood, it is imperative that ethnic community representatives and elders and their families should become familiar with and participate actively in the Aging Network’s State and area planning processes. The Administration on Aging (AoA) is committed to programs and policies that better the quality of life of America’s elders. During this presentation, an overview of the Aging Network and services provided under the Older Americans Act will be provided. Programs that are intended to benefit the Latino and AIANNH elderly will be discussed. This session is jointly sponsored by the Latino Caucus and AIANNH Caucus | ||||
