Reaching the Summit: Nutrition and Physical Activity Policy for 2000 and Beyond

The National Nutrition Summit was convened by the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services to identify continuing challenges and emerging opportunities for the nation in food, nutrition, and health. The Partnership to Promote Healthy Eating and Active Living also held a summit which aimed to provide a forum to broaden understanding of promoting health eating and physical activity, enhance interactions among disciplines and between public and private sectors, and provide direction on options to promote behavior change. Representatives from federal and state government and the food industry and health advocates will explore policy options recommended at both summits to promote healthy eating and physical activity and how to translate those recommendations into action
