Responding to Domestic Violence: Dental and Opthalmologic Concerns

A panel of those affected by domestic violence, professionally and personally, will present issues identified in the domestic violence resolution accepted at the 1999 APHA Annual Session. We will describe the Boston Public Health Commission program for local dental providers. A dental health professional will discuss indicators of domestic violence which present in a dental office and the need for training students, practitioners, and curricula concerns. An ophthalmologist will present treatment issues for the eye and how they relate to domestic violence as well as free or reduced fee care. A survivor will describe her experiences with dental and eye care professionals. There will be ample time for questions and answers
