Universal Health Care (Part 2 of 2): Truth and Myths from Abroad: Canada, UK, Scandinavia

In this two-part session, we will provide an update on the seemingly endless struggle for universal health care in the U.S. (Part 1 from 12:30 - 2:00) and describe the realities-as contrasted with the myths often propagated in the U.S.-about the health care systems of Canada, Scandinavia, and Great Britain (Part 2 from 2:30-4:00). Part 1, "The U.S. Struggle: Still Crazy after All These Years" will survey the latest round in the ongoing battle for a just universal health care system in the United States, as well as present current data on the injustices of the current market-driven system. Speakers are involved in both legislative efforts and grassroots political activities. Part 2, "The Truth and Myths from Abroad," will detail the realities of universal health care in Canada, Great Britain, and Scandinavia as contrasted with the many myths we in the U.S. are inundated with about choice, access, quality, and cost in these systems. Experts from three countries will show that despite occasional threats, universal health care systems function very successfully abroad, provide equitable access to comprehensive world-class care, and are capable of responding to ongoing challenges
