| The susceptibility of and potential health implications for children to environmental toxins is an increasingly relevant public health issue both nationally and globally. Environmental risk factors attribute greatly to the health status of children and their families. Accordingly, there is a need to address the concerns of children environmental health utilizing health education, training of health professionals and research methods. This session will provide an overview of relevant children’s environmental health issues and concerns for integration into the public health agenda. Additionally, the session will provide insight into the Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics’ (AOEC) Pediatric Environmental Health Speciality Units (PEHSU) Program, a national children’s environmental health initiative funded by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The impact of this program on addressing children environmental health concerns will be demonstrated through an synopsis of experiences of the various PEHSU sites and analysis of the PEHSU services data. | ||||
