Identifying and applying learning objectives has always been a requirement for accreditation for schools and graduate programs of public health. However, with the growing popularity of the public health competencies identified by the Council on Linkages between Academia and Public Health, the emphasis on learning objectives has shifted. Now, rather than having to develop learning objectives from scratch, schools and programs have a framework from which to pull public health competencies that are widely accepted throughout the field of public health. Although efforts are underway to identify levels at which each competency should be mastered, this will be a long process and schools and programs may have years to wait for the outcomes. So what are schools and programs to do in the interim as they conduct ongoing curriculum evaluations and revisions?

Using a curriculum evaluation done at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University as an example, this session will introduce one method for using public health competencies as an evaluation tool. Moreover, it will provide guidance on incorporating public health competencies into masters level public health curricula. At the conclusion of this session, the participant in this session will be able to:

1. Describe how public health competencies were used to develop an evaluation tool at the Rollins School of Public Health. 2. Discuss how this evaluation tool can be used to translate public health competencies into learning objectives.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to
