Kathleen R. Miner, PhD, MPH, CHES, School of Public Health, Emory University, 1518 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30329-4218, 404-727-8745, kminer@sph.emory.edu

The issue of diversity in schools and graduate programs of public health tends to generate a great deal of anxiety in terms of meeting CEPH accreditation criteria. Schools of public health and graduate programs in public health usually express their commitment to recruiting, retaining, and promoting a diverse faculty in their mission statements, goals, objectives, value statements, and other public documents. However, despite great effort, many continue to find it difficult to achieve these commitments. The pool of faculty members prepared in public health and related disciplines is small, very much in demand, and currently insufficient to meet the many competing offers of faculty positions.

This session will focus on diversity as it relates to the accreditation of schools of public health and graduate programs in public health. Furthermore, it will address CEPH's expectations for the fulfillment of the diversity criteria and provide suggestions for coming into compliance with these criteria. At the conclusion of this session, the participant in this session will be able to:

1. Discuss the CEPH accreditation criteria relating to diversity. 2. Develop strategies for coming into compliance with the diversity criteria.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, the participant in this session will be able to
