As a result of deliberations at several meetings of the Task Force and the findings from two electronic surveys that will be presented in this session, potential models for a coordinated accreditation system for health education are being considered. Any model will need to take into account both the five priorities identified in the first presentation-standards, levels and specialization, philosophy, endpoints, context-and the financial implications for both existing accrediting and credentialing organizations, as well as for SOPHE and AAHE. These potential models will be presented to elicit constructive comments and reactions from both health educators and other professionals in the audience. Input from participants at the meeting will be critical in finalizing the model that will be recommended to SOPHE and AAHE. This part of the session is intended to be interactive and open for dialogue on the impact of accreditation systems on the future of the profession.
