An Indigenous Health and Human Rights Project in Sonora, Mexico

This session will discuss the origins and initial stages of the "Buquivaba", or Sonora Indigenous Health Project, which is a partnership between the Sonora Indian Women's Alliance, the Traditional Indian Council, the O'Odham Communities Human Rights Fund, and Doctors for Global Health. The project seeks to improve primary health services, health education, community health and human rights for the indigenous population in Sonora, Mexico. The planning, design and initiation of the project using a community-driven and community-centered focus will be discussed.
