Distance learning has become commonplace in both formal and informal public health education. Distance-based methods offer the potential to expand the audience for MCH training and to improve access to training options for students. Successful deployment of distance-based programs, however, need to account for best-practices and lessons learned to avoid expensive unintended consequences and incomplete/inefficient training.
