Distance learning has become commonplace in both formal and informal public health education. Distance-based methods offer the potential to expand the audience for MCH training and to improve access to training options for students. Successful deployment of distance-based programs, however, need to account for best-practices and lessons learned to avoid expensive unintended consequences and incomplete/inefficient training. This session is devoted to examining the experience of recent MCH analytic methods training programs in using on-line, distance-based methods to deliver content, and to discuss the potential expansion of MCH analytic training programs to distance-based platforms.
Learning Objectives: Through engaging attendees in this session, participants can be expected to: 1. Understand the benefits and limitations of distance-based methods for implementing MCH analytic training programs 2. Critique various modes of delivery of training content via distance-based methods 3. Identify salient features in creating successful learning environments on-line
