Negotiating Health Care with a Managed Care Corporation when Benefits have been Denied

This presentation will involve storytelling. Storytelling is a qualitative method based on Heidigger's Hermeneutics. It is advanced as a method of experiential learning to change people's attitudes toward a situation/issue to enhance cognitive understanding. The story to be told is that of a colleague who has been diagnosed and treated for inflammatory ductal carcinoma of the breast. Critical thinking and analysis of concepts used as the story unfolded will be described. An exploration of the theoretical concepts and the methods used to successfully negotiate care with a managed care corporation when benefits have been denied will be presented.
