One of the goals of the program has been to prepare public health nursing leaders with skills to work effectively with underserved and disadvantaged populations. Since 1992, we have graduated 34 students and have seen the program grow steadily over the years. For the past two years, we have admitted 12-14 students in each new class. This presentation will focus on the unique lessons learned in the development and implementation of a program bridging two schools, the Bloomberg School of Public Health and the School of Nursing. It will discuss the challenges in the initial phases of development; partnership development, logistics of sharing resources, defining responsibilities, and advising students in two distinct systems with different academic calendars. In addition, the accomplishments and career paths of our graduates will be presented. Finally it will discuss future directions that are important in preparing public health nursing leaders.
