The Society of State Directors of Health Physical Education and Recreation (SSDHPER) and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) have identified research that supports the link between student health, behavior, and academic achievement. This presentation highlights the literature supporting the components of a Coordinated School Health Model emphasizing the impact of health on student behavior and academic achievement. This project is intended to inspire those working in the field of school health as well as to provide a concrete tool for state and local health and education officials to employ when advocating for school health programs. The full presentation with talking points will be available on both SSDHPER and ASTHO websites. This project was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Adolescent and School Health.
