Speakers will present sessions that * discuss cancer awareness in high school students using the Good Living Mall computer program. * highlight the link between student health, behavior, and academic achievement; and * describe school-based programs that increase the percentage of children who have a source of coordinated primary care for their preventive and episodic healthcare and who receive preventive services. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant in this session will be able to 1) Recognize the potential of using a Web-based teching tool for cancer prevention; identify the resources usd to implement the Good Living Mall program, and access the Good Living Mall via the Internet. 2)Articulate the evidence linking health status to improved behavior and/or academic achievement in youth, apply the informaiton to various audiences, and discuss the impact of at least two school health programs on behavior or student success. 3) Create a strategy to collect baseline demographics identifying the health care needs of the community; develop an inventory of public and private sector resources/programs that correspond to baseline data; develop a coalition based on the inventory resutls; create a strategy to effectively work with school systems to deliver access to care as well as health and safety education programs. | |||
