Effect and impacts associated with a decade of state and federally-funded case-management and lead hazard control program inputs on the occurrence of childhood lead poisoning in a city health department
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to
- Describe the various primary and secondary program components of a comprehensive, coordinated nursing and environmental health-based community childhood lead poisoning control program;
- Identify the changes in child health morbidity over time, including trends in percentage of children screened, total identified cases and burdened children, case-associations with possible lead hazards, average blood lead levels for cases and burdened children at the time of identification, etc.;
- Understand the beneficial health, learning, and economic impacts of early lead screening, case-management services, identification and control / removal of lead hazards in the living environment of low-income children.
