As baby boomer women reach midlife they become the target for more marketing and outreach as the life transition of menopause becomes the focus for much attention from the medical and pharmaceutical arenas. This paper traces the history of the use of hormones to treat menopausal women, the reasons given for their use and the continuing controversy over their usage. This paper will also discuss possible alternatives for women to deal with signs of menopause.
