Recent events have highlighted the need for public health and environmental health professionals to be able to respond to emergency situations. Central to these responses is the ability to mobilize resources to meet short term and long term health challenges.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify the magnitude of the range of emergencies that might affect the public. 2. Assist in describing the nature of immediate health problems that might present themselves to hospitals and the health care system. 3. Assess some of the long term responses that might be necessary to protect health and reassure the public.
