Public Health Nursing: A Competency-Capacity Conundrum
This townhall session will focus on public health nursing infrastructure challenges in today's public health environment. Discussion will address education and systems issues influencing PHN workforce capacity with emphasis on core competencies.
Learning Objectives: 1. Articulate APHA's concerns about the impact of the nursing shortage on the public health workforce. 2. Identify essential PHN core competencies delineated by Quad Council. 3. Discuss infrastructure challenges in strengthening workforce capacity in both local and state health departments.
