Addressing Social, Linguistic and Cultural Barriers to Accessing Health Care
Papers in this session will present the need for arthritis information in the Hispanic community, resources that appear to mediate the mortality disadvantage of low income populations, and a survey to assess the health insurance needs of disenfranchised populations. The relationship between low-self esteem, substance abuse and violence plus other socioeconomic factors are risk markers for partner violence.
Learning Objectives: Participants will understand: 1)the need for arthritis information in the Hispanic community; 2)resources that appear to mediate the mortality disadvantage of low income populations: and 3)how to use survey data to assess the health insurance needs of disenfranchised populations.
