American Children are healthier than they have ever been in history and indices of health continue to improve. Yet, disparities exist between children by ethnicity, race and class, and U.S. children are not as healthy as those in other developed nations.
This presentation will address (1) current issues facing researchers in child health; (2) the future questions to be addressed; and (3) the major data sets that are available to answer these questions.
The presentation will focus on population rather than individual health, examine the multiple determinants of health among children, and take a life-course perspective. Future research on children’s health must integrate these perspectives.
