School Environment: Changing Food and Physical Activity Choices
Understand how the school environment impacts childrens' food choices and physical activity is important given the dramatic increase during the last decade in overweight in school-aged children. The purpose of this session is to present current research related to the school environment and nutrition and physical activity and students' perception of these issues. Examples of school-based programs addressing nutrition and physical activity will be presented.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify 2 school-based programs related to nutrition and/or physical activity behavioral change. 2. Describe importance of obtaining students' perceptions potential interventions.
