With the rise in obesity and the associated co-morbidities, policy makers, public health practitioners and academics are investigating the possible role of the food and physical activity environment in this epidemic. Of primary interest are the factors that shape the food and physical activity environment, appropriate community-level measures, and to elucidate the mechanism of influence. Using case study methods as well as mapping neighborhood resources, this session presents policy analysis, community-based programs and research efforts that aim to understand these influences in communities of diverse populations. | |||
