This session will explore various methods used in cancer epidemiology. Included are the use of cross-sectional data and multiple analyses to determine primary risk factors for cervical cancer, examining the social and demographic correlates associated with cancer screening rates, using validity measures to adjust self-reported cancer screening rates, association of self-reported history of hepatitis with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and meat preparation methods and the risk of colorectal cancer.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe the prevalence and risk factors of Cancer of the Cervix among Egyptian women. 2. Assess the validity of self-reported overall adherence to colorectal cancer screening recommendations. 3. Identify the risk factors and social determinants associated with cancer screening in racially/ethnically diverse communities. 4. Discuss the implications of validity adjustment on screening prevalence and intervention efficacy estimates. 5. Identify how meat use and its cooking methods may influence the risk of developing colorectal cancer.
