Moving Toward Accreditation in Undergraduate Community Health Education Programs
On the recommendation of a recently convened task force on accreditation in health education training programs, the Council on Education for Public Health, the accrediting agency for graduate schools and programs in public health, has been exploring changes to its accreditation criteria that would include accreditation of some undergraduate programs in community health education. This presentation will focus on the changing workforce in health education as well as the necessary adaptation of professional preparation in health education.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: list the recommendations from the SOPHE/AAHE Task Force on Accreditation in Health Education and explain the rationale for each recommendation; describe the opportunity for input by the profession into the CEPH accreditation criteria revision process; and discuss the potential effect that changes to the accreditation process may have on the health education workforce.
