Environmental Factors and Obesity
The nutrition environment plays a key role in obesity prevention in children and adults. Understanding how the nutrition environment impacts nutritional intake and consequently obesity is key to developing strategies for prevention. The purpose of this session is to present disparities in access to nutritious foods, differences in snacking intake in overweigt and normal weight children and evidence from the literature on the role of dietary patterns in the prevention of obesity.
Learning Objectives: 1.Describe disparities in access to nutritious foods. 2.Describe differences in snaking intake among normal and overweight children. 3.Discuss the role of the dietary patterns on prevention of obesity.
