The nation's health care systems are increasingly focused on developing, implementing and reimbursing quality improvement models in health care delivery. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), as a federal agency that provides healthcare services to millions of Americans, is increasing its efforts to assure that these services are of the highest quality as well. This presentation will describe how HRSA is putting a special emphasis on quality assurance through its National Strategic Plan, staff and programs. It will examine characteristics of HRSA programs that provide support for the development and implementation of quality measurement and improvement systems, describe challenges presented to creating these systems across HRSA's numerous programs and analyze the potential value of the impact of these quality systems across HRSA programs and grantees.
