The National Partners are a funded group of non-profit organizations that work together to disseminate information and promote EPHT. Since 2002, the Partners have strategically targeted and collaborated with healthcare providers, environmental health professionals, and local and state leaders in the health and environmental communities. The National Partners are: the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), Environmental Council of the States (ECOS), and Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR).
ASTHO has conducted a survey of the states to inventory the many ways asthma surveillance is conducted. ASTHO is currently partnering with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health's Center for Excellence in Environmental Public Health Tracking to conduct a nationwide survey to determine if and how state capacities to conduct environmental health surveillance have been advanced during the past five years. Results from both of these surveys will be discussed during the presentation. Additionally, ASTHO has published numerous reports and case studies highlighting state efforts to build a nationwide tracking network in an effort to share best practices, resources and models with state health agencies.
