Development: A number of corporations have conducted employee training for family violence prevention, a number of hospitals have trained clinicians to address issues of family violence, and a number of organizations have worked with the community to heighten awareness. Texas Health Resources (THR) made a decision to comprehensively address family violence prevention from all three perspectives – as a healthcare provider, as an employer, and as a community member and partner. Implementation: The program elements that support each of these perspectives were initially developed by six internal task forces and have been implemented throughout a 13-hospital healthcare system serving 29 counties in the north Texas region. Evaluation: Internal survey results have indicated an increased knowledge of both the issue of family violence as well as the resources available to those impacted by it. The training, products, tools and collateral materials that have been developed as a result of the program have been shared with community partners as well as colleagues within the healthcare industry and business community.
