Evidence-based health care in chiropractic practice

Evidenced-Based Health Care (EBHC) is the rationale behind all healthcare research. Changing the behavior of the caregiver to use EBHC can provide challenges. I have attempted to incorporate EBHC within the chiropractic profession as a consultant for chiropractic related businesses, as the director of a chiropractic department within a hospital-based care system and as a practicing chiropractor. I will describe the methods of EBHC integration, reaction of the providers, barriers experienced with implementation, how to measure the effects of integrating EBHC and plans for future expansion.

At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to

Describe the specific elements of EBHC in the practice setting.
Recognize the barriers to implementing EBHC in practice.
Construct plans to overcome barriers to implementing EBHC principles in practice.
