The diversity of the current US population has important implications for the effective practice of health education and health promotion. Strategies for intervening with particular ethnic or cultural groups within the general population must be based upon sensitivity to cultural norms within these communities. This session will describe studies and programs among various communities, including Muslim American women, Latino immigrants, and Native Americans. Panelists will discuss the implications of culturally specific interventions for health education practice. | |||
