The field of public health continues to explore variables that may have an impact on domestic violence. This session explores the relationship between intimate partner violence (IPV) in women's lives and the serious consequences for women's health and their children's wellbeing and addresses spiritual practices and domestic violence behaviors. | |||
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the occurrence and patterns of intimate partner violence throughout pregnancy transitions. 2. Recognize the importance of assessing different types of intimate partner violence, psychological, physical and sexual, among women throughout pregnancy transitions. 3. Identify times throughout pregnancy transitions when intimate partner violence interventions are critical.1. Exploration of the specific dynamics of domestic violence in faith communities 2. Discussion of the impact of spirituality/religiosity on domestic violence 3. Understanding of the victims perspective on services as impacted by their specific religious needs 4. Identification of further research questions that need to be considered in future studies | |||
