The growing obesity epidemic has fueled research and evidenced-based evaluation of environmental approaches to improving nutrition and physical activity. Environmental approaches based in communities and neighborhoods of New Orleans will be explored through five papers that describe interventions through schools, farmers' markets, neighborhood grocery stores, and the mass media. Not only do these initiatives identify approaches to improving nutrition and physical activity but further strive to improve the overall living environments so that neighborhoods are safe for children. | |||
