Partnering for Power: Community-based Approaches to Supporting Health
The rapid increase in obesity has lead many communities across the US to create large-scale initiatives that include multiple sectors of the community. Not only are supermarkets, restaurants and schools considered as parnters, but transportation systems, recreational facilities, and neighborhood conditions are integrated in multi-disciplinary approaches to improving health and safety of children and adults. This session will provide concrete and descriptive methods of developing innovative plans and partnerships to improve community health.
Learning Objectives: 1. At the completion of the session, participants will be able to describe integrated community-based approaches to improving nutrition and physical activity. 2. At the completion of the session, participants will be able to describe key steps to creating and developing community-wide partnerships and initatives
