3024.0: Monday, December 12, 2005: 8:30 AM-10:00 AM
Oral
Environmental Health Epidemiology
In this session, the learner will hear about various environmental exposures and their impact on health. These exposures include leaded gasoline and other agents associated with vehicle emissions as well as how the design of our neighborhoods affects our children’s health.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Assess the effect of leaded gasoline on a NASCAR racing team 2. What the relationship between proximity to parks, schools, fast food outlets, and street design and physical activity (PA) and BMI is in adolescent girls 3. Articulate the factors that suggest or refute a toxicological etiology for reported health symptoms 4. To recognize the relationship between traffic density and asthma symptoms 5. Understand the possible effects of quite low level concentrations of sulfur dioxide on the risk of symptoms in asthmatic children and adolescents
