In this session the learner will hear about using syndromic surveillance system data to guide public health policy during an outbreak. They will learn about disease outbreak detection using emergency department syndromic surveillance and other evaluations and investigations on syndromic surveillance at local health level. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss the use of data gathered from syndromic surveillance systems to guide public health policy. 2. Discuss the outcomes and challenges encountered with new and existing syndromic surveillance evaluation methods in this public health region. 3. Describe the utility of a syndromic surveillance system 4. Have a better understanding of benefits and limitations of syndromic surveillance 5. To illustrate methods for evaluating syndromic surveillance systems. | |||
